Spring 2026 Update

Spring is here, and the SMBA community is already showing up in a big way.

First, we are excited to recognize Modern Press for their generous donation of the new aluminum trail maps at Daniels Road State Forest. With one located at the DEC lot kiosk and one located at the Artisanal Brew Works trail head, these maps are a major upgrade for the trail network and will help riders navigate and enjoy Daniels Road with more confidence.

We are also pleased to share that SMBA has extended our agreement with Saratoga PLAN and will continue to steward Graphite Range Community Forest. This partnership allows us to keep supporting responsible trail access, maintenance, and long-term sustainability at one of our area’s key trail systems.

A sincere thank you to everyone who came out for our Spring Trail Day last weekend. Every season, the quality of our trails reflects the commitment of the volunteers behind them. From clearing debris, stone work,  trimming sight lines to improving drainage and helping with the appreciation meal afterwards, your work makes a meaningful difference. We also want to thank The Fresh Market for generously donating the burgers and hot dogs for our volunteers!

You will also see SMBA out in the community this spring. We will be at Clifton Park Bike Day on Sunday, May 3, and the Saratoga Bike Rodeo on Thursday, May 7. And, as always, we will be helping make sure the Shredders kids’ bikes are “ABC” safe to ride. These events are a great way to support local cycling, connect with new riders, and help families learn more about safe and fun riding opportunities in our area.

Registration is now open for the Third Annual Mighty SMBA Challenge, taking place May 16 at Artisanal Beer Works. The event is limited to 100 riders, we expect spots to go quickly. It is shaping up to be another excellent day of riding, followed by the kind of post-ride party that makes this event so memorable.

We are grateful to the businesses and supporters who continue to back SMBA, including Death Wish Coffee, Cardona’s, Rick’s Bike Shop, Freemans Bridge Sports, Grey Ghost Bicycles, local businesses, bike brands, and other generous partners. We are also looking for additional sponsors and raffle donations for this year’s Challenge. Gift baskets, products, services, and other raffle items are all welcome. Higher-level sponsorship opportunities are available, with sponsor recognition featured on the trailhead kiosks through a dedicated tile.

Not riding this year? We would still love to have you involved. Volunteers are essential to making The Mighty SMBA Challenge run smoothly, and there are plenty of ways to help before, during, and after the event.

To volunteer, sponsor, or donate raffle items, please email us at smba@saratogamtb.org.

Thank you for continuing to make SMBA such a strong and active community.

Ride on!
