EXCITING NEWS! SMBA is now in Queensbury
Proud to be the official trail stewards of Gurney Lane & Rush Pond (Gurney South) MTB Trails
SMBA has increased the size of its footprint quite a bit! We are so excited to announce our stewardship agreement with Queensbury Parks and Recreation to maintain the trails at Gurney Lane and Rush Pond! With this agreement, SMBA adds 13+ miles of trails that include flowy singletrack and berms as well as some old school roots and rocks.
For years, Scott Wheeler, Eric Lendrum, and Tom Williams have been working with their crew to maintain the trails. By joining with SMBA, the Queensbury chapter will not only have access to our amazing volunteers but will soon have the ability to accept donations. Keep an eye out for new Kiosks, Signage, and QR codes at Gurney & Rush Pond. Queensbury riders have been asking for years how they can help out and support the trails, and now there will be a way. SMBA is looking forward to building on our relationship with Rick’s Bike Shop and being more directly involved with long-standing events like Churney Gurney and Fat Tire Bike Day.
We are especially grateful to the Queensbury Parks and Recreation former director Steve Lovering and current director Jennifer France for their vision and continued investment in mountain bike trails as an important recreational resource for residents, families, and visitors. This commitment strengthens the community, supports outdoor access, and helps ensure these trails can be enjoyed for generations to come.
